Her technical knowledge includes device drivers, embedded system design, control software, analog and digital electronics, digital image processing, and virtual reality and augmented reality systems. Prior to rejoining Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP, Ms. Smyth spent 2023 as a Patent Agent at Greenberg Traurig, LLP joining the firm along with her colleagues from FisherBroyles, LLP where she spent the previous five years. From June 2022 through May 2023 Ms. Smyth was a Technology Specialist/Patent Agent Secondee in the Patent Licensing and Open Source Group at Meta, Inc. Prior to joining FisherBroyles, LLP, Ms. Smyth spent five years as a Patent Agent at Brake Hughes Bellermann, LLP. Prior to joining Brake Hughes Bellermann, LLP in 2013, Ms. Smyth spent eight years at Fish and Richardson LLP. She starting her legal career at the firm in 2005 as a Technical Specialist, and within three years advanced to become a Patent Agent. Prior to entering the legal field, Ms. Smyth had over 27 years of experience as a practicing electrical engineer working for Polaroid Corporation.
