Beth Shaw is Of Counsel with Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP. Beth Shaw’s practice focuses on client counseling, patent prosecution, opinions, and due diligence in a range of technical areas including computers, software, and electrical devices. She also handles appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ms. Shaw has helped companies to create and expand patent portfolios and to implement policies to protect intellectual property assets. Ms. Shaw also has experience constructing patent infringement damage estimates and creating patent valuation strategies.

Before joining Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP, Ms. Shaw worked for Finnegan LLP for six years. Ms. Shaw also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Kimberly A. Moore at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 2007-2008.

During law school, Ms. Shaw served as a Writing Fellow and as an Articles Editor of the George Mason Law Review. Prior to entering law school, she worked as a software engineer and held a top secret clearance, designing databases, search engines, and software for the protection of America’s critical infrastructures.

Ms. Shaw has provided opinions on patentability, infringement, and validity of patents, and drafted more than 100 patent applications related to computer software, electrical, and telecommunications technology. She is a frequent author on open source issues and computer related patents.
