Joanna Mason is patent agent of Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP. Ms. Mason’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a wide range of technology areas, including augmented/virtual reality systems, IoT and networked/connected devices, wearables, gesture/movement sensing, tracking and recognition, user interface and interaction systems, audio/voice input detection, and biomedical devices including monitoring and electronic control. Ms. Mason’s practice also encompasses mechanical devices including hand and power-driven tools, fuel cell design and replenishment, truss structures, aerial vehicles including propeller and wing design, telecommunications systems and networking.

Prior to joining Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP, Ms. Mason worked as a Patent Agent at KED & Associates LLP in Reston, VA. At KED, Ms. Mason’s practice focused on IP portfolio strategy and management for a global consumer electronics company, and the preparation and prosecution of US and PCT applications in the mechanical, electromechanical and computer arts, to include residential and commercial appliances and environmental control systems, display systems and electronic device interfaces, semiconductor device fabrication and testing methods and equipment, medical devices, and oil and gas drilling equipment.

Prior to working at KED, Ms. Mason worked as a lead engineer and production manager in the design, development, test, evaluation and production of propulsion and power systems and airframe systems for the Department of Defense. Ms. Mason also worked as a consultant to the RAND Corporation in the area of stealth technology.
