Kristen Hansen is a Patent Agent with Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP. Ms. Hansen’s practice emphasizes preparation and prosecution of patent applications, U.S. and foreign patent portfolio management, patentability analysis, due diligence investigations, and freedom-to-operate analysis. Ms. Hansen’s practice encompasses a number of technology areas including digital and analog circuitry, software and computer hardware, communication systems, business methods, medical devices, wearable devices, virtual and augmented reality-related software and hardware, and enterprise software solutions.

Ms. Hansen has additional technical knowledge in the areas of electrical design and implementation, software design and implementation, electromagnetics theory, antenna design, biomedical instrumentation, signal processing, semiconductor processing and fabrication, and board design, fabrication, and layout. She has substantial education and design experience with consumer electronics devices, control systems, user interface design, implementation, and test, wireless telecommunications, and software for embedded, application, and device driver platforms.

Prior to joining Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP, Ms. Hansen spent seven years as a Technology Specialist, Patent Agent at the law firm of Fish & Richardson, P.C. where her practice included patent prosecution, reexamination request drafting, and litigation research support. Ms. Hansen additionally spent a year at the law firm of Irell & Manella LLP where her practice focused on patent reexamination proceedings.

Prior to becoming a patent agent, Ms. Hansen was an Electrical Engineer for Entegris, Inc. where her duties included conducting advanced research related to the semiconductor industry, an Electrical Engineer for Datakey Electronics where her duties included developing access control products, a Software Test Engineer for Beckman Coulter where her duties included testing immunoassay products, and a Software Engineer for Digi International where her duties included developing and testing device drivers for telecommunication hardware.
