R. Edward Brake is a founding Principal of Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP. Mr. Brake’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecution of patents, patent analysis and client counseling in a wide range of technologies including wireless systems, VoIP, networking, audio and video systems, semiconductor devices and circuits, computers, optical systems, software, microprocessors and other hardware and systems. He has extensive experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in these areas.

Prior to founding Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP, Mr. Brake was Senior Patent Counsel at Intel Corporation for over five years, where he managed a patent portfolio in the networking area and drafted and prosecuted patents in the wireless and networking areas. Mr. Brake was also responsible for handling patent assertions against Intel, including developing non-infringement and invalidity arguments, and then presenting these arguments at numerous patent cross-license negotiations. Mr. Brake also developed and presented offensive patent cases in licensing negotiations.

Prior to working for Intel, Mr. Brake was in private practice at Howrey & Simon (1992-1996) and then Kenyon & Kenyon (1996-1999).
