Blaine B. Bassett is Of Counsel with Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP, and resides in Austin, Texas. As a registered patent attorney and member of the State Bar of Texas, Mr. Bassett’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecution of computer- and electronics-related patents, as well as patent analysis and strategic patent counseling. In these roles, Mr. Bassett has successfully helped clients protect intellectual property in a wide range of technology areas, including: digital and analog circuit design and embedded software, virtual and augment reality devices, video projection systems, semiconductor fabrication and packaging, machine learning, optical components, telecommunications and networking, robotic surgical systems, cochlear implants and hearing aids, cloud and multi-access edge computing (MEC), product user interfaces, and various other areas.
Prior to joining Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP, Mr. Bassett worked as partner at ALG Intellectual Property LLC, and before that as an associate at ALG and an associate at Baker Botts, LLP. During law school, Mr. Bassett also worked as an intern for Chief Judge Randall R. Rader at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., and as an IP summer associate for Baker Botts, LLP (Austin, Texas) and for Stoel Rives, LLP (Salt Lake City, Utah).
Before entering law school, Mr. Bassett worked as an FPGA engineer at Raytheon in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he designed digital logic for configurable embedded systems used for United States national security. Mr. Bassett also worked as a digital hardware engineer at National Instruments in Austin, TX, where he designed digital and analog hardware and helped design software to run on it. In addition, during his undergraduate studies, Mr. Bassett worked for IBM in Rochester, Minnesota, and for Intel in Portland, Oregon.
