Edward P. Smith is an associate with Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP. Mr. Smith’s practice focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a wide range of technologies including wireless systems, telecommunications, networking, control circuits, computers, optical systems, and software, as well as other high technology areas.

Prior to joining Brake Hughes Bellermann LLP, Mr. Smith worked in the Reston, VA office of Harness, Dickey and Pierce PLC. Mr. Smith practice focused on the preparation and prosecution of US, PCT, and foreign patent applications in the fields of telecommunications, networking and network protocols, wireless communications, liquid crystal devices and displays, software, control circuits, printers and copiers, medical imaging devices, navigation devices as well as other high technology areas. Also, Mr. Smith provided patent analysis and client counseling including validity opinions.

Prior to working for Harness, Dickey and Pierce, Mr. Smith spent 10 years as Test Engineer, Software Engineer, and ultimately Engineering Group Manager, for Micro-Coax Incorporated.

Mr. Smith earned his J.D from Widener University Law School in 2008. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1998. Prior to earning his bachelors degree, Mr. Smith served six years as a nuclear trained Electricians Mate in the U.S. Navy.
